“DEEP SONGS” is my latest project which has the message of uniting Scandinavian / American Jazz with the rhythms of Africa.
“DEEP SONGS” music can be characterized as something along the lines of Afrofunk-Nordic-jazz, where the melodies are singable while the instrumental playing often gets full power.
“DEEP SONGS” has recorded a new Album in:
1. Louise Nipper “Soundscape Studio”/Forhængsholms Allé 16,/1904 Frederiksberg/Copenhagen
2. The music will be released on 1 august / 2025 on “NiCe Produktion”/ leader Niels Vincentz.
The word “DEEP” in the group name suggests that one of the goals of the music is to reach the audience in the soul with the music.

”DEEP SONGS” was created by bassist Niels Ryde, who also composed the melodies for the project. Niels is a wonderful electric bassist, an instrument he has developed into a true master of. He has really been around many musical areas, both modern jazz and world music and fusion.
He masters all genres, a true eclectic!
“DEEP SONGS” is a new project that especially aims to bring an African aspect into jazz as we know it. The Mozambican drummer, percussionist and singer, Deodato Siquir, ensures this.
Saxophonist and flutist Simon Spang-Hansen is a musician with a large and broad musical outlook. Simon also has sources of inspiration in world music and has also played modern jazz for a lifetime. We will meet an incredible musician in an incredible band!
The last member of the quartet is the young talented Mads Nørrgaard. He is a fabulous musician who can do everything with a guitar. This completes this dream quartet.

Four musicians each with their own personal sound and background from different parts of the music scene as well as countless concerts and releases behind them, each individually. When they play together, a sound is created that belongs only to them.
Niels Ryde’s unique electric bass sound and world-class playing are marked by his many years of experience, releases and inspiration from all over the world.
Jacob Melchior’s dynamic swing and great energy are back in Denmark after 23 years in the New York jazz scene.
Jacob Broholm, who with his melodic, listening and playful piano playing, puts his personal touch on the countless constellations he has played in, from Humørekspressen to rap to symphony orchestras and not least jazz.
Nana Schwartzlose leans into this trio with her voice, which in addition to singing jazz and pop/rock can also be experienced as a singer/musician in theater, theater concerts (most recently The Wall), own releases. Together they form Late Green feat. Nana Schwartzlose.
This quartet plays super elegant jazz from the 50s and 60s, pop, soul jazz, bossa nova etc., Swedish folk songs and exquisite classics with great empathy and intimacy.

The internationally renowned virtuoso bassist and composer Niels Ryde launches his Quartet, which plays Mr. Ryde’s original music stemming from the jazz tradition, with a very personal twist and inspiration from world music.
The three gentlemen in the band (Jakob Dinesen, William Larsson, and Morten Hæsum) play so that the blood runs while challenging each other as well as the audience in a varied repertoire, written by their bandleader, Niels Ryde.
“My compositions have been developed through a long life as a musician, and this band sets them on fire and gives them new life” says Niels Ryde.
